Here we go again . . .
Let's try again. Some of us weren't entirely happy with the Shutterfly blog platform so we've decided to try Blogger by Google. I think this'll be the best (and last) system we try. Shutterfly is primarily a photo site. This is a devoted blog site so hopefully will serve our purpose better and also be easier to use. I'll be sending invitations to all family members to be contributors . . . authors . . . or whatever you want to call them (us).

Mark, Did you know that you can set this up to be a private blog? Maybe you already have. In other words, you can make it so that only the authors and those who you specifically invite by email can read it. I don't know what the other Youngs want. None of our blogs are private except Corey's, since he's a kid. However, Dion does have it set up so that you can't find our blogs with a web crawler (or something like that). It's all under the settings tab, I believe. Also, I think you, as the administrator, can set it up so that all comments get emailed to you - so you know whenever someone makes a comment on any post. I tried to do that, but it wouldn't let me, but you should be able to.
ReplyDeleteSo far, so good, as far as I'm concerned. In fact, I'd say they're all equally confusing until you take time to explore -- which I don't have YET! Anyway, what's with my comment as "Mom (Google)"?
ReplyDeleteI'll explore further -- later, but I hope I haven't commented on some else's turf!
I think this will be a good site AND I'm pro-privatizing it, i.e., visits by invitation only, then you don't have to check every comment (we know where everybody lives). At least doing what Dion did so the site can't be discovered by a web browser or whatever. (But then you might want to check the comments. . . maybe.)
This is kind of like being . . . homesteaders and deciding on a location where we all agree to settle to set up . . . blogkeeping!
Thanks for working on it.
