Saturday was an interesting and fun day here. The Meffords brought Isabella, the beagle down. They found a home for her with some shirttail relation of someone we know and came down to bring her to her new home. After finalizing the adoption we spent three hours at the hairdresser so Manda could be beautiful . . . even more beautiful. While the rest of us waited we did crossword puzzles, played bingo and ate genuine Mexican food. (The less adventuresome among us ate Wendy's food.)
(Notice that Joylene and mother are dressed like twins. They wore the same top because there's a pocket in front . . . like a kangaroo . . . for them to carry their stuff in. Good idea, huh?.) Who is that kid between them? When the hair was done we picked up the Lesters, drove to the commuter train station and trained and bussed to the North Texas Irish Festival at the Texas State Fair Grounds. There were throngs of people there, many in full Irish costumes. Many kilts. Irish food. Irish products for sale. Inexplicably, many pet adoption booths (mostly breed specific dogs) and one guinea pig adoption table. There were a number of stages throughout the grounds where Irish music was being performed. We got there about 5:30 and left around 9:00 to catch the shuttle bus back to the train. Home by 11:00
I like the matching shirts! That sounds like a great get-together/outing. You look like such a fun group I wish I could've joined you. I'm glad that Isabella found a new home. I'd love to go to an Irish festival! We tried to go to a Scottish festival here once, but the line to get in was so long we were afraid we'd be gone past our babysitter's bedtime.
Great pics! I love Emily's haircut. Is that a new cut or have I just not seen recent pics of her? Amanda looks great even while getting her hair done -- most of us DON'T! Looks like that trip to the beauty shop really wore Amanda out, i.e., snoozing, while Jake is obviously thanking his lucky stars for such a beautiful wife. Right?
I'm thinking mother and Joylene should dress alike more often. That's oh, so cuuuute. Also, I see mother has on pink pants, similar to those that made such a hit in one of the cathedrals we visited in . . . Spain(?) or was it Germany(?)
Actually, I just loved looking at the background thru your car windows -- NO SNOW!! Ahhhhh! Great post!! Thanks!

P.S. Has mother been drinking?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very nice day indeed. I wish Lyle and I could make it down more often to see you all.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a new haircut on Emily - atleast new since Christmas. It does look very nice, I agree.
