My Mom was able to come down from MT for two days last weekend. Jenna's school had Grandparents' Day, so my Mom came to be Jenna's grandparent. They had lunch at school, did some activities in Jenna's class and my Mom watched the 2nd graders in their singing and dancing program. She said really enjoyed it! We also got to watch Corey's first ever Pinewood Derby. In 4 heats he placed 4th, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd. A good time was had by all! After the Pinewood Derby I started shivering and it turned out I had some kind of 24 hour flu. I hadn't planned on being sick while my Mom was here, dang it. Luckily, Mom was helpful in tending the kids and bringing me hot drinks and ibuprofen. And, luckily, it didn't last long so on Saturday we were able to go to IKEA with the kids and look around and have lunch. (My Mom had never been there.)
We didn't get many pictures. But, here are a few.
Corey signing up for the race.
One of the first heats.
Brooke and Summer watching on the sidelines.
Corey's car, which he named The White Webelo.
And, this is the only thing we picked up at IKEA. Only $7.99 for the pink canopy Jenna has been wanting for several months. (Bonus: it was made in Indonesia, not China!)
Is that a . . . princess on Jenna's bed???
ReplyDeleteThe new addition looks beeeautiful, and it's perfect against her lavender walls too!
The very best thing about it is that she won't have to worry about mosquitoes this summer!!
I can't wait to see it!
That was Grandma C's first Pinewood Derby too and it was great fun! It's amazing how many different styles of cars there are and how fast some of them can go. Those cub scouts are very creative. Corey's car was a beauty and he would have been in the finals if it weren't for that first heat. Maybe next time! Now I see why those scouts look forward to them so much!
